Low Density Board

Low Density Board

Lower density board engineered with enhanced elasticity and faster oil impregnation (grades: Form-Val, Hi-Val). Suited for barriers and cylinders.

Priced per requirement — tell us grade, width, thickness and quantity and we quote against it.

Technical specifications

Composition

100% unbleached sulphate cellulose, pressed

Standard

IEC 60641

Thermal class

Class A (105 °C) in oil; thermally upgraded and aramid grades higher

Thickness range

0.5–8.0 mm typical; laminated to 100 mm

Sawn, punched, milled, drawn and moulded to drawing

Form

Sheets and rolls; finished parts to drawing

Compliance

RoHS, REACH; mill test certificate with every consignment

Overview

Lower density board engineered with enhanced elasticity and faster oil impregnation (grades: Form-Val, Hi-Val). Suited for barriers and cylinders.

Sizes, packing and supply

Supplied to your specification — grade, thickness, width and quantity, cut and slit to your dimensions rather than sold from fixed stock sizes. Mill test certificate and certificate of conformity accompany every shipment.

Standards and compliance

  • Manufactured to IEC 60641 / IEC 60554 where the grade is covered
  • Mill test certificate and certificate of conformity with every consignment
  • RoHS and REACH declarations on request

Third-party testing can be arranged where a specification demands independent verification.

Applications

Power transformers

Barriers, blocks, end fill and clamping insulation carrying the winding load in oil-filled units.

Distribution transformers

Spacers, washers and layer barriers where the geometry is repeated in volume.

Traction and rectifier

Structural insulation in units that see vibration and sustained thermal load.

Repair and rewind

Replacement barrier and support material machined to the original drawing.

Quality and inspection

Every consignment is inspected before shipment and supplied with its mill certificate. For repeat programmes we hold the approved specification on file, so a reorder repeats a known outcome rather than reopening the conversation.

Frequently asked questions

Which grade should I specify?

It depends on whether the part carries load or has to be formed. High-density board is the structural choice; low-density is chosen where elasticity and faster oil impregnation matter. Send the drawing and the duty and we will recommend against it rather than leave you to pick from a table.

Can you machine parts to drawing?

Yes. Sawn, punched, milled, drawn and moulded parts are supplied finished to your drawing, dried and packed for winding.

Does it need drying before use?

Board is supplied dried and wrapped, but it is hygroscopic. The transformer's own drying and impregnation cycle governs; handle and store it sealed until it goes into the tank.

What thicknesses are available?

Typically 0.5 to 8 mm as pressed, and up to around 100 mm laminated. Ask if you need something outside that.

Datasheet

Full property tables, test methods and tolerances for Low Density Board are on the datasheet. Request it and we will send the current revision.

Next step

Tell us the size and quantity

Send the thickness, slit width and annual volume for https://transformerinsulation.com/wp-content/themes/transformerinsulation and we come back with a costed offer, a firm lead time and the mill certificate you will receive with it.

Tell us the size and quantity

Tell us the grade, thickness, width and quantity. We come back with a costed offer and the datasheet, and say plainly if anything will not work.

We reply the same working day. Your details are used to answer this enquiry and nothing else.
